How to Plan a Birthday Party Your Kids Will Never Forget

If you've been in my life for a while you'll know that I'm a sucker for Planning birthday parties for your children. It's the food, décor and the games-I love it! It's been a while since I've planned so many parties that I'm a bit of an expert. If you're trying to figure out what to do to plan the perfect birthday celebration that your children will remember for a lifetime You're in the right place!

How to Plan a Birthday Party

How to plan a birthday party From Beginning to End

Step 1: Pick your theme.

According to me, every great birthday party feature themes, as it makes everything more together! Here are some tips to help you select a theme!

Get your kiddo involved.

The birthday child should always be able to participate in the theme! It's tempting to choose something you think is adorable, but keep in mind the person you're celebrating. For children younger than yours, offer some ideas. However, for the most of the time allow your child to decide and then work with what they want to.

Do not limit yourself to just characters.

The theme doesn't need to be a film or television show. When my son requested water-based activities during his birthday party in August We decided on an ocean or Beach theme. When my daughter requested an "camping themed spa" I came up with the most adorable Glamping birthday celebration! There are endless options!

If you pick an individual character, think of something new!

If your child insists on having a themed party, don't worry! You can throw a memorable enjoyable, visually appealing party without spending a dime on the television shows section at Party City. Include characters-themed food and decorations along with timeless elements like balloons with solid colors and interesting backdrops for photos.

STEP 2: Prep your decoration

There's nothing that can ruin the atmosphere like staying up till 2am on a night prior to making an arch made of balloons. Before you do anything else, create an outline of your decorations. Make a list of your shopping needs and then purchase the items you need and get as far as you can in advance of the time. It is a good opportunity to get help from your aunts, grandparents and uncles that live close by! Although it may appear like a lot to manage to host a party for your child This is how you can plan a birthday celebration your entire family will remember!

Also, don't be scared to lease the more costly items. I've rented letters lights for almost every event we host, which are always a huge hit. It is possible to rent arbors tables, lighting, tables and even concession equipment (like poppers or cone makers). Locate a local rental business to get the best price.

In the past few events I've had I've tried hiring for the majority of the decor as I can , since. I've listed all the vendors I've worked with in every blog article!

STEP 3: Make your menu

The themed snacks will take your birthday celebration from average to fantastic. Consider the color scheme and theme and pick the right food items that are compatible with. It's sometimes as easy as picking the appropriate Gatorade color as well as macarons. If you'd like to make it more complicated, you could decorate cookies or bake a cake or even make your own snacks to match the theme. (And even if you're not a professional baker, there's no reason not to order cakes! This is what I'm doing!)

Another easy and quick method to boost your snacking game is to create custom labels for your pre-packed snacks. For our Frozen celebration I changed the wrappers on water bottles with labels which were affixed with "melted snowflakes". It was a minor addition that the kids enjoyed, but they got amused by it! It's possible to do the same idea with chips, candy bars and even a few other things! Small changes like these allow you to create a birthday celebration that looks stunning but takes a minimum of time.

STEP 4: Remember to do the activities.

In the majority of cases children are able to entertain themselves but it's always an excellent idea to organize some fun games to keep them entertained. Here are some of my tried-and-true favourites:

  • Create a station for crafting. An activity that is themed can be an activity and a birthday favor in one! Keep it as simple and messy as you can by preparing the materials prior to. If your project is messy (like my daughter's slime bar) set up an untidy drop cloth and tablecloth prior to the project.
  • Hire a character. It's cheesy, sure and all, but my children are obsessed with their favorite movie characters! I booked Anna as well as Elsa to draw faces and balloons for us for our Frozen celebration, and then I employed Mirabel to create characters for the Encanto celebration. The party was a huge success!
  • Have a spa day at home. Every child loves feeling like grown-ups. For my daughter's glamping event I bought each girl the girls a miniature spa set that included manicures, masks for their faces and the robes. They enjoyed a relaxing evening by themselves, and then heading for snacks at the bar.

Step 5: Host the most amazing party you've ever had!

The decorations are in place The food is cooked and the birthday child is set to have a blast. Let it all out! In the event that you've planned your event properly, you'll be able to unwind and socialize with other parents, and take pleasure in watching your kids enjoy their time. Take a bite to eat and drink drinks. It's your right!
